The Irishman 17 Year Old Irish Whiskey is a rare, cask-strength single malt from Walsh Whiskey in County Carlow, the company founded by Bernard and Rosemary Walsh. Aged more than seventeen years in a combination of American oak bourbon barrels and sherry casks and bottled at 56% ABV (112 proof), it is released in small numbered batches. The nose is rich with honey, vanilla and dried fruit, plus toasted oak and a subtle floral sweetness. The palate is velvety and luxurious, with toffee, caramel and baked apple, a gentle spice, and a nutty almond-and-hazelnut note from the sherry wood. The finish is long and warm with a lingering sweetness. At full strength it rewards a splash of water.Presented in a gift box, this 750ml bottle is an outstanding age-stated Irish single malt for collectors and serious sippers.
