George Dickel 18 Year is the oldest whiskey Cascade Hollow has ever released and the first one it called bourbon — eighteen years in Tullahoma oak, skipping the Lincoln County charcoal step so it could carry the word, bottled at 90 proof in late 2023. Nicole Austin, the former Kings County distiller who took over Dickel in 2018 and made it a critics' darling with the 13-year Bottled in Bond, found these barrels in the back of the single-story warehouses; the mashbill is Dickel's 84% corn, 8% rye, 8% malted barley, and the whiskey went into new charred oak in 2005 and came out eighteen years later, unmellowed, at 90 proof. VinePair, 86 points: bright peach, green apple, and cherry with Dickel's mineral streak on the nose, evolving into strawberries and cream; oak, leather, tobacco, and roasted peanut on the palate; and a complex finish of oak, iodine, and salt. Bourbon & Banter found the same fruit-and-mineral Dickel signature under eighteen years of wood. Honest note: VinePair called the price a difficult juncture, and they're right that this is a collector's bottle — but eighteen-year Tennessee whiskey has never existed at retail before, and there will not be much more of it. Neat, in a Glencairn, with patience. Dickel, eighteen years.Buy George Dickel 18 Year Old Bourbon online with fast shipping right to your door.
